In the areas of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods, and building technology, some 260,000 associates generated sales of 43,7 billion euros in fiscal 2006. The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH ans its roughly 300 subsidiary and regional companies in over 50 countries. This worldwide development, manufacturing, and sales network is the foundation for further growth. Bosch spends more than tree billion euros each year for research and development, an in 2006 applied for over 3,000 patents worldwide. The company was set up in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch (1861-1942) as "Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electricl Engineering."

The Automotive Technology business sector is the Bosch Group's largest. With 161,100 associates, it generated sales of 27,2 billion euros in 2006, ensuring that the company expanded its international presence yet again.
Automotive Technology includes the Gasoline Systems, Diesel Systems, Chassis Systems Control, Energy and Body Systems, Car Multimedia, Automotive Electronics, ZF Steering Systems and Automotive Aftermarket divisions.

In 2006, the Industrial Technology business sector employed around 34,800 staff and achieved sales of more than 5.5 billion euro. Industrial Technology includes the Bosch Rexroth AG and Packaging Technology divisions.

In 2006, the roughly 59,900 employees in the Consumer Goods and Building Technology business sector achieved sales of some 11 billion euro. The divisions in this business sector are Power Tools, Thermotechnology, Household Appliances, Security Systems and Broadband Networks.

The Robert Bosch Foundation uses the dividend it receives from the Bosch Group to finance non-profit projects in areas including humanitarian aid and the advancement of international understanding.
